Dusk brought weight down onto Elliot’s shoulders. His spine gave way to gravity down through his hips, his feet seemingly glued to the stone floor as he walked amidst the quiet halls.
The day I was born it was snowing out, or so I am told. Over these past 25 years it feels as if it has snowed on my birthday more often than not. I’m not entirely sure how to take that. Is it an omen that I have an icy cold heart? Am I unlucky?

There wasn’t a particularly relevant photo to match this little thought bubble so... enjoy this view of Lake Champlain, or somewhere close to it. It’s pretty, that’s what counts. Bear with me.😅
Old wood creaked as the doors latched shut on the hillside trolley. Iron friction gave a low vibration to the experience as the vehicle made its slow decent down Monte Igueldo. Elliot watched as the horizon line fell under the treeline. Sounds from the city muffled between the light drizzle on the metal roof and the rustling of leaves. For a moment, it seemed, he was left alone to his thoughts.
“Humans like to be wherever they aren’t supposed to.” Almeda continued, directing her gaze above to the turbulent waters above, schools of small fish, turtles, mantas, and other sea creatures trawling through the artificial current provided for them. “Most events in human history can be attributed to that. Wars? Territory infringement. Trade? The Silk roads. Space travel? Well, that one should be self explanatory.”
